8 ways to use Coconut Oil
This is one of the ingredients I can?t live without. It?s a cure-alls which you can use for everything from healing scars to dry spots and clean teeth! I use it for basically anything ? the only thing it really can?t do, is mattify. But whatever I come close to, I?ll throw coconut oil at or on ? no matter if its skin, mouth, food or hair. So here?s some of my favorite things to use it for ..
Moisturizer & anti-aging
Coconut oil is perfect for giving your skin lots of moisture and to keep it hydrated. Therefore I love to use it as both face cream and body lotion. It makes my skin super soft and even. The bonus is that virgin coconut oil has powerful antioxidants, which can improve the skins youthfulness and make you look young and fresh!
If you want a good makeup remover for sensitive skin and eyes, I always go for coconut oil. Just take a little bit on a cotton pad to remove your makeup. The oil can break down waxy, inky eye makeup and leave your skin hydrated and soft.
I’m not a big fan of whitening my teeth with chemical products, cause it hurts my sensitive teeth so damn bad! But even though I have naturally super white teeth, I like to give them a little treat with coconut oil once in a while. I just take a big spoon of the coconut oil into my mouth ? and use it as a mouthwash for about 5 minutes. It can be super hard for that long, but it?s worth the struggle, cause it always leaves my teeth super white and clean! And if you can manage to keep the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, you can clear up germs in the mouth leading to a fresher breath!
If you don?t like to wear lip balms or any other kind of lip treatments, cause it tends to get sticky ? use a coconut oil. The oil is super fine and smooth on your lips and provides hydration and nourishment, leaving your lips soft and moisturized.
The oil can really help to increase your hair?s strength and vitality. I love using it as a hair mask during the night to wash out in the morning. It leaves my hair super soft and with a beautiful shine!
Again ? I hate using chemicals that my skin doesn?t need. And as I?ve never been a fan of shaving creams, this is my go-to. It?s easy to use as shaving oil in the shower and then it?s a naturally anti-microbial, skin soothing and hydrating way of during it! Win!
A dry scalp leads to dandruff ? so give it a lot of moisture to the roots during the night. Apply the coconut oil to the scalp and roots, massage is in and wash out in the morning. The dryness and itchy scalp should feel much better now!
For itchiness, burns and bites
If I get a sunburn, a mosquito bite or a bruise, I always apply coconut oil. It?s super soothing and leaves my skin more balanced and relaxed than before.
I have two favorites that I use. One is for when you’re on a budget, and that you can find in your local supermarket. The other one is more expensive and of high quality. It comes from a sustainable and eco field in Thailand, with specific selected coconuts for the oil.
TIP: If you don’t like the smell of coconut, you can buy some coconut oil with no scent at all! So just go ahead and cover your whole body in this lovely ingredient!
